The Islamic Republic of Iran Railways says plans are underway so that 7 million people can use suburban trains from the next fiscal year (starts in March 2017). According to the IRIR chief executive Mohsen Pourseyyed Aqaei, 4.5 million passengers used suburban rail services last year, up from 2 million the year before. “All major cities will be equipped with suburban trains,” he was quoted by Mehr News Agency as saying.
