Turkey’s trade with Iran has increased 30% since the lifting of sanctions, Turkey’s customs minister said on Wednesday. Bulent Tufenkci also said Iranian and Turkish companies were working on joint investments in other countries. He made the comments at an appearance in Ankara, Reuters reported. Earlier in June Tufenkci said Turkey aims to triple trade with Iran to $30 billion per year. “Banking and financial transactions have become easier (for Turkey) after the sanctions on Iran were softened, already boosting our business with Iran,” he was quoted as saying. Trade volume between Iran and Turkey rose to $21.9 billion in 2012, then fell below $10 billion in 2015 with the effects of the sanctions.
