Rural Iran accounted for 26.6% or 1.958 quadrillion rials (around $55.94 billion at market exchange rates) of the gross domestic product in the Iranian year ending March 2013, the Statistical Center of Iran’s latest report was cited by IRNA. Agriculture, mining and industrial sectors were the main drivers of rural areas’ economic growth, with agriculture accounting for 36% of the total rural GDP, mining 27.1% and industry 15.7%.
