Close to 640,000 tons of goods valued at $263.7 million were exported to Japan during the first three months of the current Iranian year (started March 20), which indicates a 30% drop over last year’s corresponding period, the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration’s latest data show. Gas condensate, carpet, pistachio, fig, saffron and dates were among the main exports to the East Asian country. Meanwhile, 9,700 tons of goods worth $83 million were imported from Japan to Iran during the same period, which shows a 34% increase year-on-year. The main imported commodities included machinery, magnetic resonance imaging equipment and steel products.
