The Sarakhs border crossing, located in the northeastern Khorasan Razavi Province on the border with Turkmenistan, has begun to operate 24/7 to help facilitate exports to the neighboring country, Iran’s Ambassador to Turkmenistan Seyyed Mohammad Ahmadi announced on Monday. “The same can be done for other border crossings with the neighboring country,” Mehr News Agency quoted him as saying. Incheh Borun, Lotfabad and Bajgiran are other gateways of trade along the mutual border. Turkmenistan is Iran’s top export destination among the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States. Iran accounts for $1 billion of Turkmenistan’s total imports worth $8 billion per year, according to the Ministry of Industries, Mining and Trade.
