Iran’s import registration procedures should be modified to facilitate imports and foreign trade in general, the Deputy Minister of industry, Mine and Trade, Valiollah Afkhamirad, said on Wednesday.“We have listed 5,000 commodities that can be imported without needing to go through the bureaucratic process of import registration certificates,” he said. Entrepreneurs who import these commodities can carry out the procedures “from the comfort of their offices” and pay the charges later either online or through the banking system,” Afkhamirad was quoted by ISNA as saying.He further added that such policies are expected to help facilitate imports, adding that, “It is necessary to facilitate import procedures, should we be able to have a strong presence in the target markets.” Iranian entrepreneurs and businesses need to comply with a collection of specific and sometimes difficult regulations when importing into the country. ‘Order Registration’, the process of listing import items with the customs authorities, is the first step when importing any type of commodity.
