More than 230,000 head of light livestock (sheep and goats) were exported to the Persian Gulf littoral states during the first two months of the current Iranian year (March 20-May 20), indicating a 24% increase compared with the similar period of last year, ISNA quoted deputy agriculture minister, Mahmoud Rokni, as saying. Persian Gulf countries are the main destinations for Iran’s livestock exports. Some 1.2 million head of light livestock and 20,000 male calves were exported to the region in the last Iranian year (March 2015-16).
