Iran exported $27.6 million worth of commodities to the United States during the first five months of 2016, according to the US Census Department.
No exports were registered from Iran to US during last year›s corresponding period.
The lifting of western sanctions on Iran›s economy in January as part of the nuclear deal Tehran signed with world powers last year has led to the resumption of Iranian exports, mainly hand-woven carpet, saffron, pistachio and caviar, to the United States.
Imports from the US to Iran stood at $65.5 million for the same period, which indicate a 41% decline over last year’s similar duration.
