It is estimated that lemon production will reach 480,000-500,000 tons in the current Iranian year (March 2016-17), indicating a 7-8% increase compared to last year, according to the Ministry of Agricultural Jihad. “With this amount of production, there is no need for imports. Ripe and high-quality lemons produced mainly in Fars, Kohgilouyeh-Boyerahmad, Khuzestan and Hormozgan provinces will enter the market within a couple of days,” Mehr News Agency quoted Abolqasem Hassanpour, an official with the ministry, as saying.
