Iran is now importing eyed trout eggs from Spain, the UK and Denmark, says head of Iran Fisheries Organization, Hassan Salehi. “The majority of our imports used to be supplied by France,” he was quoted by IRNA as saying. According to the official, 0.9-1 billion eyed trout eggs are farmed in Iran per year, 30% of which is supplied through imports. Domestic trout production stands at 140,000 tons per year, which makes Iran one of the biggest producers of this freshwater fish.
