Turkmenistan’s Imports From Iran Hit $1b

Iran accounts for $1 billion of Turkmenistan’s total imports worth $8 billion per year, said the deputy minister of industries, mining and trade. Valiollah Afkhamirad added that, “Now we are after strengthening our foothold in Turkmenistan’s market more than ever.” Turkmenistan is Iran’s top export destination among the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States, Mehr News Agency quoted Afkhamirad as saying.   Minister of Roads and Urban Development Abbas Akhoundi visited Ashgabat in early June at the head of a politico-economic delegation and met with Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov as well as the CIS country’s Foreign Minister Rasit Meredow.
