Some 200,000 head of livestock produced by Iran’s nomadic tribes were exported in the first two months of the current Iranian year (started March 20), according to the head of Iran’s Nomadic Affairs Organization.

“We want officials to increase the tariff on meat imports in support of domestic production,” IRNA quoted Karamali Qandali as saying.

Nomadic tribes in Iran possess about 24 million head of livestock and provide for 20% of domestic demand for meat and dairy products.
