Railway Expansion

Iran is set to extend its national rail network by 10,000 kilometers, Ali Noorzad, the deputy minister of roads and urban development announced in a meeting with his Armenian counterpart, Arthur Arakelian, on Sunday in Tehran. According to ILNA, during the meeting, which was aimed at negotiating the construction of Iran-Armenia railway, the Iranian official said that Tehran is interested in developing railway networks with its neighboring countries and seeks to expand its national railway network fourfold by 2025, a plan that needs investments of up to $12.5 billion.
