The southern province of Hormozgan is ready to boost its trade ties with foreign countries, Khalil Qasemi, the head of Hormozgan’s industry, mine, and trade organization told IRNA on Monday. A trade delegation including 19 businessmen from Iraq, Russia, Afghanistan, India, and Oman entered Hormozgan to investigate the possibility of further ties in transit, foreign investment, and export of agricultural and fishing products from the province, he said. The government is to help increase the role of the private sector in the economic projects of this province, Qasemi added. With an annual production of 2.4 million tons of agricultural products and 180,000 tons of fish products, Hormozgan is home to three free economic zones (Qeshm, Kish, and Jask) and seven free trade-industrial zones. Besides, Shahid Rajai, one of the biggest container ports in the region, and the passenger port of Shahid Bahonar are located in this province.
