Participants in Iran’s exclusive exhibition, which will be held in the Iraqi city of Basra later this month, will have 40% of their expenses covered by the government to promote their presence in the neighboring market, said the head of Trade Promotion Organization of Iran, affiliated with the Ministry of Industries, Mining and Trade. “Holding exhibitions is instrumental in promoting exports to the Iraqi market,” Valiollah Afkhamirad added, calling on Iranian companies to have a strong presence in the upcoming event, IRNA reported. The four-day exhibition is scheduled to open on May 18. Iranian participants will be presenting products and services in a wide range of fields, including food, energy, mining, household appliances, medicines and medical equipment, cosmetics, textile, carpets, automobiles, transportation, information technology and telecommunications. Basra is located near Iran’s southern provinces and shares water and land borders with the country which, according to the exhibition’s organizer, Alireza Sadrzadeh, provides great opportunities for trade between economic players of the two sides. “Iranian companies have already established their presence in northern and central Iraq. Basra in the south is our next target for promoting bilateral trade,” he said.
