The north-eastern province of Khorasan Razavi exported about 1.3 million tons of goods worth more than $1 billion in the first seven months of the current year (March21- October 22, 2014), Ali Rasoulian, the director of the regional economic coordination office told MNA on Friday. “The export value shows 4 percent increase,” he said. Saffron, cement and steel are among the most popular goods exported from the region.” During this period, $297 million of commodities were imported into Khorasan, which indicates a 77 percent rise,” he added. The official explained that the breathtaking import level is due to the country’s growing demand for wheat, which was previously imported through western borders, but now is imported through Khorsan Razavi.
