Food Exports Down 13%

The export of food and agricultural products declined to $5.6 billion in the last Iranian year (ended March 19, 2016) from the preceding year’s $6.5 billion, according to a report by the Agriculture Commission of Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture. Food exports declined by 13%, confectionery and chocolate by 18%; pasta 22%; pistachio and saffron 27% and dairy exports dropped by 6%, TCCIM news portal reported. Last year saw imports of food and agricultural products decrease by 27% compared with a year before to stand at $9 billion.
