Official figures show that about 90% of foreign clothing are smuggled into the Iranian market, says the director general of Textile, Apparel and Leather Industry Organization, affiliated to the Industries, Mining and Trade Ministry, IRNA reported. “Excessive imports of fabrics, clothing and shoes via free trade zones is the main problem facing the domestic textile industry,” Golnar Nassrollahi added. “China, Turkey, India, the UAE, South Korea and Taiwan are the main origins of apparel exports to Iran.”
