The Water Resources Management Company has is conducting a study on the extraction and consumption of deep groundwater resources, according to ILNA. The energy ministry says such a study has never been systemically carried out before in Iran. The recent shortage of shallow groundwater resources in the country has led experts to resort to deep groundwater deposits. Deep groundwater projects have already been developed in the Libyan Desert as well as in the Amazon in Brazil.
