Some 1.5 tons of farmed caviar are estimated to be produced in the current Iranian year (started March 20), which would indicate a 50% rise year-on-year, said the director of Iran›s Union of Seafood Reproduction, Cultivation and Exports.
«Last year›s production stood at about 1,000 kg, which was 25% more than the preceding year,» Arsalan Qasemi was quoted as saying by Mehr News Agency.
Qasemi noted that all the caviar produced in the country is exported.
The product is traded at $1,800-3,000 per kilogram in the international market.
