Warning the parliament against a new bill to increase tariffs and duties on cigarettes, chairman of the Association of Producers, Importers and Exporters of Tobacco Products, Mohammad Reza Tajdar, said the move would increase smuggling by 70%. The Iranian Parliament is weighing an initiative, based on which the prices of domestically produced, imported and joint venture cigarettes are to be increased by 40%, 19% and 12% respectively, IRNA reported.
