Science, Tech Tasks Delegated to 6 Executive Branches

Six ministries have been tasked to execute general policies of science and technology that had been envisioned by the Leader earlier this year.
“First vice-president, Eshagh Jahangiri, has ordered the ministry of industry, mine and trade, ministry of justice, the ministry of science, research and technology, the ministry of finance and economic affairs, the vice president for science and technology and the vice president for planning and supervision to implement general policies of science and technology that had been envisioned by the Leader,” IRNA reported.
The report goes on to read that each department is assigned to carry out certain tasks. The ministry of industry, mine and trade is tasked to facilitate the ground for the expansion of scientific and technological research with the help of scientific centers around the world, especially with those in Islamic countries. The justice ministry has been tasked to prepare the necessary infrastructure and support intellectual property rights. The ministry of science will look into research and technology to promote the country’s scientific position in the world. The ministry of finance and economic affairs is to increase the budget allocated to scientific research to at least 4% of total GDP.  The vice president for science and technology and the vice president for planning and supervision have been asked to find ways to inform the public about the importance of development in science and technology.
General policies of science and technology that were drafted by the Leader of the Islamic Republic are aimed at turning Iran into a scientific and technologic hub not only in the region, but throughout the Muslim world.
