    Italian Delegation in Tabriz

A visiting Italian delegation, headed by Adolfo Orso, former deputy minister of economic development, held talks with members of Tabriz Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, in the capital of East Azarbaijan Province on Thursday. The two sides discussed bilateral cooperation in construction, hospitality, agricultural machinery, computer systems, pharmaceutical, transportation, automobile spare parts and ceramic sectors, IRNA reported. “On April 12 and 13, Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi is to visit Iran. Italy is eager to be Iran’s first economic and industrial partner in the post-sanctions era. The fact that President Rouhani chose Italy as his first European destination is an indication of the congenial relations between the two countries,” said Orso. Western sanctions against Iran over its nuclear program were lifted on Jan. 16, after the International Atomic Energy Agency confirmed that the country had limited the scope of its nuclear program. “We are ready for cooperation in the fields of food industry, tourism, water treatment and energy,” said Mohammad Sadeq Pourmahdi, deputy governor general of East Azarbaijan, adding that technology transfer is a precondition to joint cooperation.
