Imports from Turkey—fourth biggest exporter to Iran—declined by 23% to reach $3 billion in the last Iranian year (ended March 19, 2016) compared with the corresponding figure of the previous year. The amount accounts for 7.5% of Iran’s total import value, ISNA reported. The weight of imported commodities stood at 2.6 million tons, which indicate a 27% decline.  Fresh or dried green banana, cigarettes, boards made of wood or wood products, cardboard paper, drug supplements that are not produced domestically, soybeans and calcium phosphate constitute the bulk of Iran’s imports from the neighboring country.
