A Singaporean business delegation led by the country’s Minister for Trade and Industry S. Iswaran is scheduled to visit Iran on Friday to hold talks with Iranian officials regarding expansion of trade ties, Iran’s Ambassador to Singapore Javad Ansari announced. According to the Iranian envoy, Iswaran will meet Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance Ali Tayyebnia and Minister of Industries, Mining and Trade Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh during his stay, IRNA reported. Ansari noted that Singaporean firms are eyeng cooperation in the fields of hotel construction and development, information technology, transportation and pharmaceuticals with their Iranian counterparts.  The 67-strong delegation will consist of members and the chairman of Singapore Business Federation, Teo Siong Seng.  SBF is the apex business chamber championing the interests of the Singapore business community in the areas of investment and industrial relations, representing key local and foreign business chambers. Singapore scrapped its prohibition on transactions with Iran on January 28, a fortnight after the UN nuclear agency IAEA confirmed that Iran had been sticking to its promise to limit the scope of its nuclear program, marking the official end of western sanctions against the Islamic Republic.
