An investment worth 8,000 billion rials ($264.65 million at market exchange rate) is needed to add 800,000 new jobs every year, says Minister of Cooperatives, Labor and Social Affairs Ali Rabiei. “Job creation requires technological development and wealth creation, and the realization of these two hinges on close cooperation between the government and entrepreneurs,” IRNA quoted the minister as saying at a ceremony to honor Iran’s top entrepreneurs. According to the latest figures released by the Statistical Center of Iran, the unemployment rate in the third quarter of the current Iranian year (September 23-December 21) stood at 10.7%.
