French train maker Alstom says it signed a contract with the Iranian government to start talks on the development of railroads in the Middle East country on Friday. The company, which makes TGV bullet-trains, will start discussing ways to address Iran’s needs for mainland and urban transportation, as well as the production of trains in the country, business news outlet MarketWatch reported. Since selling its power equipment-making unit to General Electric last year, Alstom has focused on the manufacturing of locomotives and rolling stock, as well as railroad servicing.
