Deputy Agricultural Minister Mohammad Ali Tahmasebi said Iran is considering Russia as a potential export market for Iranian apples amid a surplus. Apple production stands at 3.5 million tons this Iranian year (to end March 19, 2016), which is 600,000 tons higher than average annual domestic consumption, Tasnim News Agency quoted the official as saying. Tehran and Moscow have lately been working to reduce tariff rates to pave the way for increasing the export of commodities, such as agricultural and dairy products.
