Kabul Calls for Iranian Investment

Kabul has called on Tehran to review the state of its trade ties with Afghanistan and move toward investing and establishing production factories in the country, instead of regarding it as an export market, says the head of Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Ghadir Bahman. Now that the Iranian economy has opened up to world markets, Afghan traders are hoping to see increased economic cooperation between Iran and Afghanistan, IRNA quoted Bahman as saying. Iran annually exports $2.5 billion worth of petrochemicals, foodstuffs, construction materials and technical and engineering services to Afghanistan.
