Transit through Anzali Port, in the past seven months was up by a quarter compared to the same period last year. Over 374,918 tons of goods were exported to Russia, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan via Anzali in recent months. Imports to Iran amounted to 1,581,405 tons in the same period. Also, 464 ships berthed in Anzali in the first seven months of the Iranian calendar year (starting 21 March 2014), showing a four percent increase compared to the first seven months of the previous Iranian year, according to the head of Gilan province’s Port and Maritime Organization, Seyed Ali Naimy. Anzali is the largest harbor on the southern coasts of the Caspian Sea, having the capacity to transit seven million tons of goods via its ten docks. It is also the third largest seaport in Iran after Imam Khomeini and Rajai ports which are situated on the Persian Gulf.
