Iran welcomes the investment and participation of German companies in its agriculture industry, said Iran’s agriculture minister. Mahmoud Hojjati was speaking in a meeting with representatives of Germany’s agriculture and food companies in Berlin on Saturday.  “Germany has always enjoyed a high reputation among Iranian people, which is a great asset per se,” said the minister.  Hojjati also invited German companies to participate in the marketing and distribution of Iran’s agricultural products at home and abroad, IRNA reported.  The meeting came on the heels of Hojjati’s meeting on Friday with his German counterpart Christian Schmidt, in which the two signed a memorandum of understanding on research, trade and workforce training. Germany’s Vice Chancellor and Federal Minister of Economic Affairs and Energy Sigmar Gabriel is scheduled to participate in Iran-Germany Economic Commission from May 2-4 in Tehran, where the two sides will discuss, among other things, ways to promote agricultural cooperation.
