Last Iranian year (ended March 20, 2015) saw smuggling cut to $19.8 billion from the preceding year’s $25 billion, said the head of Central Taskforce to Combat Smuggling of Goods and Foreign Currency. Habibollah Haqiqi added that outbound smuggling dropped by 47% to reach $4.4 billion and inbound smuggling was cut by 9% to hit $15.4 billion, IRNA reported.
