Iran Plans 1st Int’l Aviation Summit in 40 Yrs.

First Vice President Es’haq Jahangiri, Roads and Urban Development Minister Abbas Akhoundi and more than 20 CEOs of Iranian aviation and tourism companies will attend the Iran Aviation Summit 2016 to be held in Tehran on January 24 and 25.  They will be attended by more than 150 industrialists, experts and chiefs of aviation operators and suppliers from around the world to discuss market potential in a post-sanctions Iran. The event, co-organized by the Center for Asia-Pacific Aviation, will be the first major international aviation summit to be held in Iran in almost 40 years.  Established in 1990, the center provides independent aviation market intelligence, analyses and data services that support strategic decision-making at many of the world’s most recognized organizations.   “As a result of the signing of the historic Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action in July 2015, Iran’s civil aviation sector and its tourism industry are set for significant modernization and expansion following the expected lifting of sanctions,” a CAPA announcement reads.  Iran is one of the 20 largest economies in the world in terms of Purchasing Power Parity, with a young and highly educated population with the highest living standards in the region.  This is a market with immense potential and huge pent-up demand for aircraft, equipment, technology, skills and capital, as well as airport and airspace infrastructure. There are also significant route development opportunities for foreign airlines, airports and national tourism authorities. Given the wealth of historical, cultural and natural attractions in Iran, an expected surge in inbound visitors will drive investment in hotels and tourism services.
