An exhibition was held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, on October 22-25 with a focus on Iran’s market.

In an interview with Fars news agency, Kyrgyz lawmaker, Tursunbai Bakir Uulu, said the event will boost intellectual understanding between the two nations.

“Iran is Kyrgyzstan’s neighbor, closer than the US, West and even Russia. That is why Iranian exhibitions in Kyrgyzstan are always warmly received by the Kyrgyz nation”, the lawmaker said.

“International sanctions on Iran will gradually be removed and Iran will seek to expand its ties. Kyrgyzstan is ready to help Tehran in this regards as a friend and brother country,” he said. “In addition, Kyrgyzstan is planning to enter the Customs Union and Eurasian Economic Union, which provide an opportunity for Iran to export its products to Russia and Belarus through Kyrgyzstan without paying customs tax, opening a huge market to Iran.”

Apart from the exhibition, merchants from both countries are delighted that direct flights between the two countries have been launched, Bakir Uulu added.

In September 2013, Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Erlan Abdyldaev, in a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif, asked for launching direct flights between the two countries.

Earlier in June, in a meeting with the new Kyrgyz Ambassador to Tehran Asanbeyk Osman Aliyev, President Hassan Rouhani, too, underlined the need to further expand bilateral ties.
