Dhaka is in talks with Tehran to set up a fertilizer plant in Iran, says Bangladeshi Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu. As per the proposal, the plant, which is expected to manufacture 700,000 to 1 million tons of fertilizer a year will be set up under a joint venture and Iran will provide land and gas, Bangladeshi newspaper The Daily Star reported. The proposal comes, as fertilizer factories in Bangladesh are facing a serious shortage of gas with many of them forced to shut down.
