Sugar Import Unwarranted

Iran’s sugar reserves are adequate and the country need not import it in the current Iranian year (to end March 19, 2016), Mehr News Agency quoted deputy minister of agricultural jihad, Abbas Keshavarz, as saying. More than 1.35 million tons of sugar are estimated to be domestically produced this year. Imports stood at 822,000 tons in the last Iranian year (ended March 20, 2015), according to the ministry.
