The goods and services Consumer Price Index for urban areas increased to 13.7% in the 12-month period ending December 21, which marks the end of the Iranian month of Azar, compared to last year’s corresponding period, according to the latest report by the Central Bank of Iran. The CBI had reported a 14.3% inflation for the preceding month of Aban (ended November 21). The overall CPI (using 2011 as the base year) stood at 231.6 in Azar, indicating a 1.3% growth compared with the previous month. A year-on-year increase of 9.4% was registered in the index compared with the similar month of last year. Earlier, the Statistical Center of Iran put the inflation rate for Azar at 12.6%.
