Gold exports from the city of Mashhad, located in Khorasan Razavi Province, have picked up after a 15-year hiatus, the head of Mashhad Gold and Jewelry Producers Guild said. Baqer Maboudinejad added that 60 kg of gold were exported to the UAE over the past two weeks. According to Maboudinejad, during a recent visit to Mashhad, officials from the Afghan cities of Herat and Kabul’s gold and jewelry guilds requested the annual purchase of 15 kg of gold from the Iranian city. Khorasan Razavi is home to the third largest gold reserve in the country after Isfahan and East Azarbaijan provinces, IRNA reported.
