More than 60 economic delegations from different countries have visited Iran since the beginning of the current Iranian year (started March 21), according to Deputy Economy Minister Mohammad Khazaei.

“Iran is one of the few countries in the region, which enjoys peace and security and paves the way for the presence of international investors in the country,” Mehr News Agency quoted the official as saying on Monday.

Khazaei, who is also the head of the Organization for Investment, Economic and Technical Assistance, made the statements in the “International Seminar on Introducing Economic and Investment Opportunities of Tehran Province” is being held in Tehran during November 16-17.

Ambassadors and commercial attachés of 24 countries, including but not limited to the UK, France, Portugal and Germany, along with domestic investors, are participating in the event.

As many as 40 major projects were due to be offered in the seminar for domestic and foreign investments. Construction of a wastewater treatment plant and a suburban train, as well as projects in food, tourism and hi-tech industries, are among the opportunities introduced.

Encouraging investors interested in doing business in Tehran, exchange of technical and trading information among investors, businessmen and economic activists of the participant countries, and providing an opportunity for collaboration among officials and investors are the main objectives of the seminar, according to the event’s official website.
