Iran is ready to embark on joint ventures with Tunisia in the fields of automotive, cement, electronics and textile, said Iranian Minister of Industries, Mining and Trade Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh in a meeting with Tunisian Secretary of State for Arab and African Affairs Touhami Abdouli. He viewed the appointment of an Iranian commercial attaché to Tunisia as a significant step toward expansion of economic relations with the North African country and said entrepreneurs and representatives of the two countries’ private sectors should move ahead of their government officials in boosting bilateral ties. For his part, the Tunisian official underlined the importance of boosting trade with Iran and said the two sides can work together in tourism industry as well. Setting up joint ventures would pave the way for joint exports to the neighboring countries, IRNA quoted him as saying. Tehran-Tunis trade stood at over $30 million in 2014.
