Authorities have shut down a counterfeit KFC fast food restaurant in Tehran. “No license has been issued for KFC or McDonalds, as the two US brands have not declared any intention for starting business in Iran,” Mehr News Agency quoted the head of Iran Chamber of Guilds, Ali Fazeli, as saying on Tuesday. The official’s remarks came amid rumors in social messaging networks that the US food joints have opened branches in Tehran. On Tuesday, Fazeli said the chamber issued a directive to its inspection bodies to shut down any restaurant misusing the two food joints’ brand names.
