Isfahan Province hosted as many as 25 foreign economic delegations in the first half of the current Iranian year (started March 21), says head of Isfahan’s Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture, Seyyed Abdolvahab Sahlabadi. “Following the July nuclear deal between Iran and six world powers, the number of visiting foreign delegations has been on the rise,” Mehr News Agency quoted him as saying. One of the last foreign visits was by a team of Ukrainian commercial representatives in mid-September, during which they signed a memorandum of understanding with officials of the commerce chamber of the province for cooperation in “Farming Beyond Borders” program. The government scheme entails renting cultivable land in other countries for growing water-intensive crops. The mostly dry central province of Isfahan has the third largest share of Iran’s GDP (6.4%) after Tehran and Khuzestan provinces (24.9 % and 14.5%, respectively).
