Close to 4.5 million tons of citrus fruits were produced in the current crop year, which is sufficient for domestic consumption, says Abolqasem Hassanpour, director general of Tropical and Subtropical Fruit Department of Agricultural Jihad Ministry. “The government is to purchase about 40,000 tons of citrus fruits from farmers this year for stabilizing the market,” Hassanpour was quoted as saying by Mehr News Agency.
