More than 590 million tons of goods were transported via railroads during the first half of the current Iranian year (March 21-September 22, 2015), indicating an increase of 103% compared to the similar period last year, according to the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development. Furthermore, the railroads’ share of total goods transit during the six-month period increased by 55% compared to last year’s corresponding period, IRNA reported.
