The mining sector’s share in the Gross National Product (GNP) is one percent, but the figure could increase to 3%, the minister of industry, mine and trade Mohammadreza Nematzadeh said. “The mining sector is the fundamental part for many development projects across the country and is, therefore, a suitable area for big investments,” IRNA quoted the minister as saying. Nematzadeh called for a stronger role of the private sector and foreign investors in Iran’s mining industries, adding that efforts should be made to utilize the industrial value added in the best possible way.
