Saffron Earns $75m

More than 52 tons of saffron worth $75.2 million were exported during the first six months of the current Iranian year (March 21-September 22, 2015), showing a 9.5% decrease in value compared to last year’s corresponding period, deputy head of National Saffron Council, Gholamreza Miri, has been quoted as saying by Mehr News Agency. Mashhad–capital of northeastern Khorasan Razavi Province–accounts for 90% of saffron exports, according to the official.
