More than 2,500 tons of shrimps worth $11 million were exported in the first half of the current Iranian year (started March 21), showing an increase of 108% in volume and 123% in value over the similar period of last year. Armenia, Spain, the UAE, the United States, Belgium, Thailand, Turkey, South Korea, Oman, Russia, Qatar, Kuwait, Lebanon, Egypt, Mexico and Vietnam were the main export destinations. ISNA quoted the head of Iran Fisheries Organization, Hassan Salehi, as saying on Sunday that the exports are anticipated to dramatically rise after the removal of western sanctions and the subsequent opening up of the business environment for traders.
