Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance Ali Tayyebnia, accompanied by his deputy and head of Investment, Economic and Technical Assistance Organization of Iran, Mohammad Khazaei, visited Brasilia on Tuesday to hold talks with top Brazilian officials. According to IRNA, the minister was scheduled to meet with Brazil’s Minister of Finance Joaquim Levy, Minister of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade Armando Monteiro, Minister of External Relations Mauro Vieira and Governor of the Central Bank of Brazil Alexandre Tombini. The visit comes after Tayyebnia’s trip to Peru to attend the World Bank Group and the boards of governors of the International Monetary Fund’s annual meeting. Brazil is South America’s largest country and has the eighth largest economy in terms of nominal GDP in the world as of 2015, and also the seventh largest in terms of purchasing power parity.
