Industrial production units, with annual production worth more than $1.4 million, that cooperate with academics in scientific research will be awarded with 10% tax exemption, announced deputy minister of industries, mining and trade for education, research and technology, Ali Asghar Tofiq, on Saturday. Pointing to the move as an “incentive for developing the industries”, the official added that faculty members who cooperate with industries will be also be paid by the production units and will have an additional source of income other than their university salary. “The relationship between industries and academia is set to enter a new, productive phase,” IRNA quoted Tofiq as saying.
