Slump in Leather Industry

Leather exports in the first seven months of the current Iranian year (started March 21) dropped by 50% in terms of value compared to the similar period of last year, says deputy head of Iran Leather Industry Association, Abbas Torkaman, adding that global demand for leather products is declining. According to the official, the decline in people’s purchasing power is the main cause of the global stagnation in the leather industry.
